Gull in Maine

This is a gull I drew while in Maine. Cindy and I were sitting on a bench and he just kind of hung out there while we both quickly sketched him. Cindy gets annoyed when we both draw the same subject, though, so we don't do this often...
Notes, notes, notes, and a Semi-Self Portrait

Lots of random notes from a lecture several years ago, plenty of doodles, and representation of how I might look as a cartoon and 100 pounds lighter.
Joseph Beuys and Guy Slipping on Banana Peel

I did this one while watching a film on Beuys (in which he held the tiniest microphone I've ever seen, hence the "tiny mic"). The guy slipping on a banana peel developed as a result another artist throwing a banana peel on the floor as a joke. A woman freaked out and was convinced someone was going to slip on the peel. This was my representation of someone slipping on the peel, knocking into the slide projector, and having the slides go all over the place.
I then had the ambitious idea to do a painting of this, and thought how wonderful it would be to represent all those slide in paint. Eventually that idea became the painting, "The Myth of Flight". The person in that painting that is falling backwards is the artist who threw the banana peel on the floor...
